smylpay.com/cookies
We store only what we need to make Smyl work. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.
The short version
- No advertising cookies. No tracking across other websites.
- We store what keeps you signed in, keeps the site secure and remembers settings you choose.
- There’s nothing optional to ask about, so we don’t ask for consent. We show a short notice once to say so.
- You can clear it at any time in your browser.
This is a summary. The full text below is what applies.
On this page (7 sections)
1. What we store
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Websites can also save information in your browser’s storage, which works in a similar way. This page covers both. smylpay.com doesn’t set any cookies of its own.
On smylpay.com and shop pages
| Name | What it’s for | How long it lasts | Set by |
|---|---|---|---|
| smyl.cookieNotice | Remembers that you’ve closed the cookie notice, so it shows once. | Until you clear it | Smyl |
| __convexAuthJWT_smylclaim, __convexAuthRefreshToken_smylclaim | Keeps you signed in while you claim your shop. Only if you claim a shop. | Until you sign out | Smyl |
If you only browse shops and search, the only thing we store is whether you’ve closed the cookie notice.
Our forms, the sign-in for claiming a shop and the search on our home page use Cloudflare Turnstile to check you’re not a bot. It runs in a frame from Cloudflare, which handles what it needs under Cloudflare’s own privacy policy. Cloudflare says it uses what Turnstile collects only to tell people from bots, not to identify, profile or target anyone, and we don’t switch on its optional clearance cookie.
In the Back office (smyl.dev)
The Back office doesn’t set any cookies of its own either. It stores these in your browser:
| Name | What it’s for | How long it lasts | Set by |
|---|---|---|---|
| __convexAuthJWT_…, __convexAuthRefreshToken_… | Keeps you signed in to the Back office. | Until you sign out | Smyl |
| smyl.counter.basket, .amount, .mode, .catalog, .leftSale (one set per shop) | Keeps the sale you’re ringing up on this device, so it isn’t lost if the connection drops or the page reloads. | Until you clear it, or the sale is done | Smyl |
| smyl.counter.typeCodes | Remembers if you prefer typing customers’ codes to scanning them. | Until you clear it | Smyl |
| smyl.stockExplained | Remembers that you’ve seen the note about stock counts, so it shows once. | Until you clear it | Smyl |
| smyl.upload.review | Keeps a spreadsheet you’re checking, if the page reloads. | Until you close the tab | Smyl |
2. What we don’t do
- No advertising cookies.
- No tracking you across other websites.
- No analytics cookies. We count visits to smylpay.com with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn’t use cookies or store anything on your device.
- No selling or sharing what we store.
3. Why we don’t ask for consent
The law lets websites store things that are strictly needed to give you a service you asked for, without asking first. Everything on this page is in that group. If we ever want to store anything optional, we’ll ask you first and update this page. Our visit counts don’t store anything on your device either, so they don’t need consent.
The short notice you may see on smylpay.com only tells you this. Closing it is remembered on your device.
4. The Smyl app
The Smyl app doesn’t use cookies. On your phone it keeps:
- Your sign-in.
- A postcode you type.
- The bank you last chose.
- A review you haven’t posted yet.
- The code we use to send you notifications.
- Whether you’ve seen the welcome screens.
Our Privacy policy explains what the app sends us and why.
5. How to clear what we store
You can clear cookies and site data in your browser’s settings at any time. If you do, you’ll be signed out, and a sale you were ringing up on the Counter will be cleared from that device.
6. Contact us

7. Changes to this page
| Date | What changed |
|---|---|
| 18 October 2026 | We added a short notice saying we don’t use tracking cookies, and listed the setting that remembers you’ve closed it. The app waitlist has closed, so it no longer uses the bot check. |
| 13 October 2026 | We now count visits to smylpay.com with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It doesn’t use cookies or store anything on your device, so there’s still no cookie banner. |
| 13 October 2026 | First published. If we ever add analytics or anything optional, we’ll review this page and the banner decision first. |
